MBBS in India vs MBBS Abroad

Some students have a dream to become a doctor. But the way to become a doctor is not at all easy.  A student first has to choose the college in which he or she wishes to study. A student can either opt for a government college or a private college. But the scenario doesn’t seem to be so easy. Government college has a very hight cut off whereas the private college is extremely expensive. The number of applicants for MBBS is comparatively very high from the no of seats available. The problem doesn’t end here, students have to clear very difficult entrance exams for MBBS.

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS in India

There is a certain requirement in order to take admission in MBBS in India. Let us have a look at the requirements:

  • The applicant must have passed 12th standards with minimum marks of 50% and the applicant must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in its 12th standard as a part of their course of study.
  • The applicant must be 17 years old or above before 31st December of the year in which the admission is to take place. The upper age limit of taking admission for MBBS is 25 years and not more than that.

Entrance Test for MBBS course in India

To take admission for MBBS in India there are three national-level examinations. Have a look at them:

●    National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET)

NEET is the national level entrance test for MBBS in India. Students who wish to pursue graduation in medical science i.e MBBS, Dental Program (BDS), Post Graduation Program  (MS/MD) in any government or private medical college of India need to clear this test. Students who want to pursue medial starts preparing at ever early so that they can crack this entrance test.

●    All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS MBBS)

AIIMS is another prestigious medical entrance test in India. This entrance test provides admission in most reputed AIIMS institutes across India. There are 9 AIIMS institutes all over India they are located in Bhubaneshwar, New Delhi, Bhopal, Guntur, Raipur, Rishikesh, Nagpur, Jodhpur, and Patna. AIIMS offers 800 seats every year to the students.

●    JIPMER (Jawahar Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research MBBS)

JIPMER is the third national level entrance exam for medical education. This exam is conducted once in a year by JIPMER, Puducherry. This institute provides 150 seats to medical students in its Puducherry Campus and about 50 seats at its Karaikal CAmpus.

Both the two institutes AIIMS and JIPMER are Institutes of National Importance and that is why this NEET has nothing to di with this nor the students can get admission in these institutes to buy cracking NEET  their own entrance test need to craked to take admission.

MBBS Course Duration in India 

In India, the MBBS course is complete in to 6 years. During the period, of course, there is a one-year complete compulsory rotating internship. That is why the academic study of MBBS that place in four and a half years which are covered in nine semesters. This course will be conducted in the following manner

  • Two years of preclinical studies
  • One year of the first stage clinical studies
  • Next two years Second and third stage clinical studies
  • Last year clinical rotation
